Premier League Preview 2023/24: Liverpool FC

Liverpool FC

The Happiest Re-Builder in England

Coming off a very un-Liverpool like season where they had a terrible start and came back well after the world cup break, it feels like this season is the start of a new era at Liverpool. They have parted ways with some experienced and ageing stars. Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino have all left on free transfer and Jordan Henderson and Fabinho getting offers from the Saudi League. Liverpool have bought in Dominik Szoboszlai (£60m) from RB Leipzig and Alexis Mac Allister (£36m) from Brighton, both of whom are attacking midfielders by nature and are very exciting young prospects. However, Liverpool now don’t have any defensive midfield players in the squad with Thiago Alcantara also asking for a move away from Liverpool this Summer. This means they are forced into the transfer market and will be desperate to get some deals across the line with time fast running out to do so. Liverpool are looking to beat Chelsea to the signing of Brighton’s Ecuadorian midfielder Caicedo in submitting a big money offer in excess of £100m. Liverpool still looks formidable up front, with last years signing Cody Gakpo leading the line. He will be ably assisted by Nunez, Salah and Diaz who returns after missing most of last season through injury. This Liverpool side looks could be unpredictable at times this season but if they hit top form, watch out. Is Jurgen Klopp committed to a club rebuild? That remains to be seen. This side will have to start the season in full flight if they are to contend at the back end of the season.
